coke village

I like the article we read on the Coke village in Isreal. I thought it looked like a lot of fun, and a good way to promote Coke through Facebook. One thing we didn't know was how the teens got to go there. I did some research and found out they do have to pay to be there. I found this on a website called The Inspiration Room. "To register for a three-day vacation in the Coca-Cola village, Israeli teens were asked to sign up on the Coca-Cola village Facebook page, gather a group of 8 friends and 10x8 Coca-Cola caps and pay a nominal fee of 199 shekels per each of the kids." 199 Shekels is about $54.80 in American dollars. So yes they have to sign up and pay to be there, but that is a very reasonable price to pay for a three day vacation weekend to an awesome resort with so many fun activities. I would totally go there if I was a student in Isreal.

Here is the website I found it on.

  1. With over 500 million active users, I think Coca Cola used the appropriate medium to promote their product on facebook. Because word of mouth is the ultimate key in advertisement and getting their product to be known, if Coca Cola selects teenagers from different schools, those kids who go back to their school will talk about how amazing their experience that Coca Cola had given them and will promote the products that way. Not to mention that many of them are very active facebook users. The communication or the interaction in that public space along with the pictures uploaded from the village will definately promote Coca Cola and their products.

  2. the coke village is a great idea. More companies should do things like that, it is a way to capitlize on inexpensive marketing. Compared to the price of TV ads and all of the other promotions they already do, this brings them a great amount of exposure. It builds brand loyalty and a connection with kids who will be consumers for life.

  3. I think the idea of Coca-Cola village is interesting and sounds like a good time. However, facebook was created for the internet and I think its so weird to wear a bracelet and literally be physically connected to your facebook everywhere you go, you really can't get away from it. I guess when I go on a vacation, I like to enjoy the things there, not be with my facebook.

  4. I do think coke had a good idea with campaign when trying to reach out to its young consumers. This is something I would defiantly participate in with my friends because it is a reasonable price, seemed like fun and if it is something I like than I would want to help them advertise and promote the product.

  5. Until I see the P&L xl doc on this project, I will disagree that this is effective. How much does it cost to put on this venture? How much can you directly see in returns? Yes, I am aware that Coca-Cola has a fat wallet. But does this lose money? I think so...with the IFARED installation, costs for the village, etc

Though I do, however, think that it is an effective way to spread the bran virally...
