Ugh. If there is one thing that annoys me, it's the constant transformation of Facebook. I swear that every time I start to get used to a new setup, the social network comes out with a new one. The ever changing appearance is inevitable. Sometimes I wonder what it would be like if Facebook would go back to its original state: simple, cute, and easy to navigate. None of this extra mumbo jumbo or unnecessary profile/home options.
Here is an article that highlights some of the changes undergoing Facebook currently:

My Facebook has not transferred over to this new setup, but it will soon. I ponder what the creators' goals are in this process. Wasn't Facebook created as a social network site in which one could communicate and keep in touch with friends? Now, it seems as though it is just to test how good one is with the internet and navigating. How pretty one can make their profile and what interesting stuff they have to say about themselves.
Word of advice, Facebook: keep it simple. And if you are going to change the entirety of Facebook's layout, do it less frequently. You are beginning to annoy some of your users.
I honestly don't understand why they find it neccessary to keep changing the layout! It really is frustrating. I barely have a grip on how to work it now (Of course, that may have something to do with the fact that my facebook is set to pirate speak). Why, must they make a simple thing so difficult? Why?! Seriously, can anyone elaborate why?
ReplyDeleteMy friend just showed me the new profile page. It looks pretty stupid and I don't see the purpose of revamping it. I guess they're trying really hard to stay in the public eye and showing that they won't get replaced
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of the redesigning has more to do with keeping some people employed than maintaining a fresh public image... kind of the same way that every year a new edition of a textbook is released and priced at $150+ even though the difference from the older one is only a few syllables
ReplyDeleteI completely agree. Honestly, I think in some ways it's actaully hurting facebook. My mom literally just made a facebook today and she is not someone who is always on the internet. It's really going to take her a while to get the hang of how facebook works and I once she gets it, facebook will proabbly change again. It use to be a lot easier to navigate, especially for those people were not particualry tech-save like my mom. Facebook book should definitely settle down a bit with all of the new changes before it starts losing some of its fanbase or potential users.
ReplyDeleteI agree also. Everytime they change it everyone complains. I have not heard one person say they liked a change or was excited about it. It's always negative comments when something on Facebook changes. I think people want a consistency in this SNS, and they are not giving it any.
ReplyDeletedo you guys think that FB is making these changes so it does not become dated? is it really necessary? I don't know about you guys, but I'm in the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it category."
