after reading this i kind of got the sense that in the 1990's news and media sourcs joined in online because other news sources were doing it. it was stated "they had no clear mission" This reminds me of me and so many others of when we first joined a myspace or a facebook. I started to log onto without knowing what my attention was. I started to do it because i was curious and everyone else started to do it. Now i have a purpose when i log on, generally to keep updated on current events and to communicate with old friends and family. I can see the comparison between media companies and regular people and the undenying attraction the internet can have.
